Roman Yatsiv

Roman Yatsiv is a unique personality who binded whole his life with the world of art. He was born in Khodoriv, Ukraine on August 26 in 1957. Roman is a professional historian, art theorist, museum curator, art manager, artist and teacher. Not only that but also he is a professor, doctor of historical sciences, candidate of art history, member of the National Union of Artists of Ukraine, Honored actor of Culture of Ukraine and Active member of Taras Shevchenko Scientific Society. 

From 1973 to 1978, he studied at the department of interior and furniture design of the Lviv State Institute of Applied and Decorative Arts (Lviv National Academy of Arts). After graduating Roman worked as a junior researcher at the Lviv Museum of Ukrainian Art, than he bacame an acting head of Soviet art department. In 1984 – junior researcher at the Lviv branch of the Institute of Art History, Folklore and Ethnography named after M.T. Rylskyi (the Institute of Ethnology at National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine). In 1994 Roman`s scientific carear grow to the deputy Director of the Institute of Ethnology at National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine. Since 2021 Roman Yatsiv has been working as a professor of Artistic Tree department at Lviv National Academy of Arts.

Being an artist Roman Yatsiv held a huge amount of individual exhibitions in Lviv (1981, 1989, 1996, 1997, 2005, 2009, 2015, 2020), Rivne (2013, 2019), Drohobych (2015), Kramatorsk (2015), Druzhkivtsi, Bakhmut, Kyiv, Odesa (2016), Lutsk ( 2020), in Poland (Lodz, 2015, 2019; Poznan, 2019), in Canada (Toronto, 2017). His artworks are kept in private collections of Ukraine, Poland, Germany, Canada, USA, China.
